Many years ago I read All Marketers Are Liars: The Power of Telling Authentic Stories in a Low-Trust World by the legendary Seth Godin.
One of my favorite parts of the book is where Seth wrote that we believe that an $80,000 Porsche Cayenne is cooler than a $36,000 VW Touareg, which is virtually the same car, made in the same factory.
The point he makes is that those driving Porsche Cayenne think they are something amazing versus those driving VW Touareg. Its the story that is different.
A couple of months ago I read Morgan Housel’s famous book The Psychology of Money: Timeless lessons on wealth, greed, and happiness. In this book, the author shares the story the man driving the car tells and the stories the man watching him tells.
Today’s #thankgoditsastorysaturday is about the man in the car and the one watching him.
