MOBILE to HNT Conversion Speculation

The next foray into decentralized wireless for Helium brings us to cellular technology. Specifically, Helium is attempting to break into 5G via the CBRS spectrum available for commercial use in the USA. In exchange, those who purchase the Helium hardware and maintain the infrastructure are rewarded with MOBILE tokens. MOBILE tokens will be eligible to be traded for HNT in the future but the conversion rate is not currently known. Today we try to eliminate unknowns as much as possible and provide educated guesses as to what the conversion rate will be once the MOBILE Treasury is funded/setup with HNT. It’s a lot of math but I try to keep it as easy to understand as possible. Here’s what I came up with…and spoiler alert: it’s much smaller than you think.
A lot of folks think the conversion will act as a “floor” that ensures miners will receive no less than that amount of HNT. Secondly, the move to Solana will make it easier for exchanges to list MOBILE, and a lot of folks think the price of MOBILE on exchanges will be higher than the conversion to HNT price. Therefore the “true” market price will be reflected on exchanges…or so the conventional thinking goes. I’m not sure there’s enough behind that reasoning, but that’s the risk/reward proposition at this point. Once the move to Solana happens and MOBILE is listed on exchanges, we can revisit the analysis.
